Mulch should be an essential part of any garden. The best mulch depends on the situation and what kind of plants and garden you have. We usually say, the best mulch is a 75mm thick layer to stop weeds and keep moisture in.

We have plenty of different mulches, from the most common pine bark mulch, to our own speciality Rich Mulch, that both feed and protect your garden.

We can deliver directly to you in Newcastle, Hunter region and Central coast area. You can also pick at any of our two sites at Warners Bay or Weston close to Maitland. Most of our range comes in bulk, big green bag or smaller bags. Order online, by phone or come into any of our stores.

Rich mulch.

Our own mix, which is an organic blend that will both mulch and feed your soil at the same time. Contains pinebark, eucalyptus mulch, compost sawdust, mushroom compost & cow manure. Rich mulch is very dark in colour.

Pinebark.

Pinebark, fine or course, are very good at keeping moisture close to the surface. Bark chips swell by holding moisture and keeps the soil cool underneath. Great for tropical or exotic plants.

Woodchip & Eucalyptus mulch.

Will not hold as much moisture as other mulches. Great for natives and streetscape gardens.

Sugar cane mulch breaks down over time, which makes it great for produce gardens, seedlings and vegetable gardens. We only sell sugar cane mulch in smaller quantities.

You use mulch as a layer on top of your soil around plants in the garden, to suppress weeds, keep moisture in and for decorative purposes. Mulch contains organic material often biproducts from the timber industry but also bark, pine, straw, leaves.

You use mulch as a weed suppression, water conservation and as for aesthetics, texture, colours etc can make a big difference depending on plants and design of your garden.

We say the best mulch is a 75mm thick layer to suppress weeds and keep moisture in. It all depends on the situation. We recommend our own unique mix, Rich mulch, which feeds your garden at the same time as it protects it.

We recommend a 75mm thick layer to suppress weeds and keep moisture in. You buy mulch in volume ie m3. Calculate your volume = width x length x depth in metre. For example a garden bed is 1 meter wide and 3.5 meter long, and you need 0.075m layer of mulch. You will need 0.26m3 of mulch.

Sugar cane mulch breaks down over time which makes it great for vegetable gardens and seedlings. It enrich the soil at the same time.
